from surf to ski

Fall came and went and we started to get psyched for snow. Hoping to take advantage of time off for Thanksgiving break, we booked some time in Winter Park, packed up and headed out!

Unfortunately, we got psyched before Mother Earth was ready. Instead of swish-swish-swishing down the snowy slopes, we had an epic pinball and bowling competition and ate pizza while watching Fantastic Beasts at The Foundry.

oh la la!

And finally it snowed and it snowed a bunch!

Just not enough to open more than two runs.

Two runs + two thousand people = a short day for us!

We successfully checked off opening day in Colorado snow country!

The Beach, Huntington Beach

We offset the soccer, football, school and election chaos of October with a quick, lazy trip to recover at the beach in early November.

Zen: the constant repetition of waves rolling in at sunset by the peer.

Surf's Up!
We took advantage of lodging points and a free night to reserve a hotel within walking distance from the beach.  They had surfboards, boogie boards, towels and umbrellas free for check out along with evening s'more treats around gas-burning fire pits in the courtyard.

Boogie Boards
A Giant Chess Set!

Huntington Beach is an incredibly active and dynamic place.  People are constantly walking, biking, driving, surfing, running, rollerskating, playing volleyball...

We joined in our own Colorado way: jumping waves, boogie boarding, building sand castles and just enjoying the warm, calm beach. We walked the beach and the peer and jealously watched surfers.

And before we were ready, it was time to head back to the airport and return to Colorado cold and wintery.
