Friday, Saturday, Sunday soccer (day 3)

The last day of soccer was bittersweet: full of promise and goodbyes.  Next year the Club will change the age/grade requirements and many kids will move up to the next level (Academy).

Tucker on defense = no fear.

End of season treats!

Last day for Coach Kris, too.  Next year both kids will have paid coaches instead of Dad Coaches.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday soccer (day 2)

During an afternoon reprieve from soccer, we headed down to Union Station for lunch, a haircut and a pick up: Grandmommy.

Union Station is the new Denver hub for transportation.  This is where you catch the train to the plane.  I had egg salad that I will be dreaming about for the rest of my life.  Yum!

Kenedy before her haircut.

According to the car thermostat, Denver hit 95 degrees F that Saturday--enough to melt this mountain family.  We bolted back to the hills where the weather was perfect for a beer on the deck.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday soccer (day 1)

All of the spring snow pushed soccer into a marathon of make-up games.  Luckily we had beautiful weather for the weekend.  Both kids played tough!

Kenedy played while Tucker practiced.

Go girl!

She was SO hot and the next day we cut off her hair.  It was holding her back.

Tucker practiced goalkeeping while Kenedy's game wrapped up.

on stage

The end of the school year is upon us: three and a half days left!  The kids are counting down and ready for a summer of freedom and fun. In the meantime, the end of the school year is filled with special events and make up soccer games.  On Wednesday evening the sun peaked out just long enough for Tucker to play his best buds from school in a make-up soccer game.  On Thursday Kenedy's class took a field trip.  I joined for some of the fun: identifying skeletons and finding bugs.

On Thursday evening Tucker's class put on their big show.  Tucker played a rancher who once rode his horse 23 miles to help his sick sister.

This is the song:  "If I had an airplane I would fly to Colorado where you can walk a mile high.  But I've got two feet to climb and it's pike's peak or bust..."

Next we hustled to Kenedy's band concert.  Kenedy is one of four tenor sax players in the elementary school band.  They played four songs which were much better than their first concert in December.  Kenedy loves band and, if she sticks with it, she will continue playing with these kids for eight more years, through high school.

Up this weekend: soccer, soccer, and soccer plus a visit from Grandmommy!

snow

On May 17 we had enough snow, fog rain and cold to make a lake out of the fields, thus causing the cancelation of soccer practice.  Necessary to keep us out of fire danger this summer but getting old!

practice makes perfect

Getting ready for the end of the year program.  Wish you could be here to hear!!

take Tucker out to the ball game

It all started out on a cold and foggy May 14th.  We played soccer, cleaned house and then picked up Tyson to kick off the big birthday event. The sun peaked out briefly during the drive to Coors Field but it was cloudy and cold for most of the game.  We found a parking spot and headed to the field.

Go Rockies!

The seats were prime for catching home runs and we could see Blackmon, aka "Blackbeard" right in front of us at Center Field.

Hot dogs and fries kicked off the baseball food fest!

Finally the rest of the crew arrived.

The Rockies scored seven runs in the first three innings, Terry Collins was thrown out of the game and the kids got pink and blue cotton candy!!

Couple all of this baseball fun with family and a good friend...

And you have one happy birthday boy!

Happy 8th, Tucker!!

finding her inner bad ass

Kenedy finally got her groove in soccer: friends, growth, confidence and a fantastic coaching team.  Once again the Club is changing the structure of the teams and Kenedy can no longer be on this team next year.  We will enjoy while we can and see what happens for next year.

Bad ASS!

Warming up for a GOAL!! Go girl!

train to the plane

Denver finally finished the train to our remote airport. This is a huge relief for those of us with one family car.

It's a 37 minute ride on a quiet and clean (so far) train.

See!  Clean floor, awesome boots!

The train dropped us right below the new hotel with just a short walk to check in or get to security. Entering the airport from the train (South) side was a bit discombobulating and I did a full circle before I re-found the Frontier desks.

soccer

Soccer mornings: play, eat, run around trying to find cleats, shin guards, light or dark shirts, warm clothes, balls, bags... a hair tie.

Tucker is very helpful as you can see.

Go badgers!

Tucker scored three times.

Mothers Day

We spent Mothers Day at Grandma's house: three families, three mothers and three dogs.

reading

Kenedy read five books during our trip to Iowa. This practice continues at home.  Usually we ask that she take a break from reading during meals but this morning she snuck in a few pages.

morning

Tucker and I are on the same very early schedule.  He tries very hard be quiet but must wait a long, long time for everyone else to wake up so that and he can go outside and play.  Patience!

Wishful playing (no volume).
